Silkworms and Butterflies
2025-03-23
My mom says my wife and I should get a new pillowcase— something to nourish our hair and keep our face unmarred.
My dad says we’ll need to catch worms. Mom asks, “Don’t you mean caterpillars?” Dad says, “Maybe—but some are dangerous.”
Grandma showed Dad how to care for worms and cocoons: Pick them at the right time—they’ll sell for more that way. Much more. And save some for later—we’ll need them again.
My mom grew up in the city. My mom went to school. My dad grew up in the country. My dad went to work.
I think Dad means silkworms. I think my mom means caterpillars. My mom has itchy eyes. Could it be allergies? My dad is okay—something in the soup nourishes him.
Could it be silk that I want?
Dad says to be frugal. Mom warns me of scams. They both say: save money.
What should I buy?
Never mind—my wife says she already found the right pillowcase. We’re going to the mall now.
